Many in the Levy community are breathing a sigh of relief after a long-time volunteer with the Levy Fire Department was found safe and sound.
Levy Fire Chief Doug Graham and his wife, Nelvin Graham, were back at it Friday, volunteering their time at the department's fireworks stand to help raise money for the fire department. Family members say Nelvin Graham is in the beginning stages of dementia and went missing Thursday night. She was found safe several hours later at the fire department. Chief Graham says he's thankful for the more than 350 people who came out to search.
"It's just a feeling you can't express. I mean there were people there you would have never thought were going to be there. Deputies came out that weren't even working. To the people of Levy and Jasper County, I just can't thank them enough."
Nelvin Graham has served as a volunteer with the department for years. She was the first certified female firefighter in Jasper County.
