Parents across the Coastal Empire are grieving for the 20 children killed in a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday.
Parents like Jason Somers, who has three children, can't believe someone would take the lives of innocent children.
"It's a tragedy. You pray for the families."
Here at home, parents are shocked and devastated by the news of the shooting. Police officials told the Associated Press that the suspected gunman is 20-year-old Adam Lanza. His mother, Nancy Lanza, who was a teacher at the school, was found shot dead at the home she shared with Adam Lanza. He left her there and drove to the school in her car. Adam Lanza and six adults were among the dead at the scene.
Parents say they are praying for the victims and their families.
"You send your child to school everyday then get a call someone has shot your child. It's heartbreaking," says Suzie Stewart, parent.
