SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
It's called the "happiest run around town".
It's not your usual way to warm up and not your usual 5k.
"The Girls on the Run" celebration took off Saturday morning at Savannah State University with serious runners mixed in among the tutus and the families.
The program uses running as a means to teach girls self esteem and self respect and get them a little exercise in the process.
Saturday's celebration run signals the completion of the 10 week program.
364 young ladies took part in the event.
