Ringling Bros. Ambassadors of Laughter to tour area

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey "Ambassadors of Laughter" will be making stops in Savannah and around the area Dec. 17-19. 

It's all a part of their nationwide effort to promote literacy and education. It helps prepare residents for the upcoming performances of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents FULLY CHARGED, Gold Edition coming to the Savannah Civic Center Jan. 23 through Jan. 27, 2013. 

On Monday they'll be visiting several schools, Memorial University Medical Center and the Bluffton Branch Library. 

The Ringling Bros. Ambassadors of Laughter will be at the following locations: 

Haven Elementary, 5111 Dillon Ave., Savannah
When: Dec. 17 - 9:30am
What: The Ringling Bros. Ambassadors of Laughter will promote literacy with an interactive reading of IF I RAN THE CIRCUS by Dr. Seuss to more than 245 Pre-k - 2nd graders. 

St. Andrews School, 601 Penn Waller Rd., Savannah
When: Dec. 17 - 12:30pm
What: The Ringling Bros. Ambassadors of Laughter will demonstrate science characterization through circus skills including spinning, juggling, and balance to more than 70 4th to 6th graders. 

Memorial University Medical Center, 4711 Waters Ave., Savannah
When: Dec. 17 - 2:30pm
What: The Ringling Bros. Ambassadors of Laughter will put smiles on little faces with silly antics, clever bumbling and gentle, encouraging words as they visit the children in the pediatric unit. 

Blufton Branch Library, 120 Palmetto Way, Bluffton
When: Dec. 17 - 4:45pm
What:  The Ringling Bros. Ambassadors of Laughter will promote literacy with an interactive reading of IF I RAN THE CIRCUS by Dr. Seuss to more than 50 Pre-k - 2nd graders.

    With Chief Mark Revenew now keeping an eye on the streets of Savannah, the City of Pooler is left without a chief. And as the City works to fill that role, they have set a temporary replacement. Pooler Mayor Mike Lamb tells WTOC that Pooler's Deputy Major Jim Ward will serve as the Interim Police Chief.

    The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport passed its 2016 annual numbers by 12 percent in 2017 breaking another airport record. Last year they had over 2.4 million passengers served in Savannah.  Over the past ten years the airport's annual passenger number has fluctuated quite a bit. In 2007 the airport saw just over 2 million passengers.
