EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Residents spent much of Monday night cleaning up a mess left behind by strong storms that moved through the area.

Near Faulkville in Effingham County, many trees were uprooted, some falling onto homes.

"I've never seen anything like this. It was so loud when it moved there but within five minutes it was gone," Mike Hill said.

Along Geogia Highway 17, trees fell onto power poles. Sporadic power outages were reported in both Effingham County and Garden City.

In Pooler, the Godley Park neighborhood seemed to sustain the worst damage.

Many fences were blown over, a gazebo was torn apart, and garages were bent in.

"My yard is in shambles. There is debris everywhere. I was shocked when I came home," Dawn Nichols said.

Police worked into the night Monday directing traffic at King Georgia Blvd. in Savannah where traffic lights were out.

No injuries were reported as a result of the storms.
