Storm causes damage in the lowcountry

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

On Monday, Mother Nature created quite a mess for one neighborhood in Bluffton.

Just off of Alljoy Road, one tree broke off near the top causing the rest of the large tree to tumble to the ground, destroying part of a fence.

In the backyard of the same house, a large oak tree uprooted and came crashing don on top of the two story home. Witnesses say they heard a loud roar and within seconds, the storm was all over.

On the north side of Beaufort County, the storm caused moderate damage on Laurel Bay. Officials there say the storm downed several trees and broke an electrical power pole, which damaged a home on the military housing facility. Officials say crews responded to the incidents quickly and were able to get it cleaned up. The family was able to stay in the home over night.

But in the Bluffton community, the damage was a bit more extensive and will likely take longer to clean up.
