BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

Beaufort police are asking for public's assistance in identifying and locating two suspects in a shooting that took place at Walmart Monday night.

Police say they were notified about the shooting when the 24-year-old victim went to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound.

Investigators say the victim told them he was loading items into his vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart when it happened. Officers later found a vehicle that had been struck by a bullet and some blood on the ground in the parking lot. Police say witnesses stated that the victim and the two suspects had an argument just before the shooting.

"It was 11:30 at night," said Beaufort Police Chief Matt Clancy. "There was no one else around when it happened and we do firmly believe this victim was specifically targeted and that it was not a random type thing where they just went out and shot at anyone. They were specifically trying to shoot the victim."

Investigators believe the two men were driving a white, four-door sedan. Anyone with information should call authorities.
