Suspects in elder abuse case indicted

GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -

Maria Wiggins and Michael Nesmith were indicted on elder abuse charges Wednesday. According to authorities, Wiggins and her boyfriend, Nesmith, abused Wiggins' elderly, disabled mother.

Investigators say they dragged the victim around the house, refused to give her food and stole her social security money.

The case will now go to Superior Court.

A man who repairs water towers collapsed more than 100 feet in the air above Cobbtown. Fire and rescue crews had to climb to the top of the tower and lower him to safety.
