A Springfield man wanted in connection with a home invasion that occurred Thursday is behind bars.
Brandon Peters was arrested in Liberty County just before 11pm Thursday.
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office said a man pushed his way into a woman's home and forced her to drive to the bank. At that point, she fell out of car and was then run over by the suspect. She was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Peters was wanted on kidnapping and aggravated assault charges. He was last seen in a 1999 Dodge van green or blue in color displaying Ga tag BUU3926. It has been reported stolen.
"Peters entered a residence in the 300 block of Deer Road in Springfield, tied a female up and forced her to a nearby ATM. Once at the bank, the female struggled to get out of the vehicle where she was eventually run over by the van Peters was driving," said sheriff's office spokesman David Ehsanipoor in a statement. "Peters has an extensive criminal history and may be armed and dangerous."
Neighbors say Peters was scoping the house out for the past day.
"I was driving by and I saw him...If he is going to do something like that to her who is to say he wouldn't do this to someone else because he is crazy," neighbor Kathleen Woods said.
Woods says Peters is incredibly dangerous and will do anything to avoid going to prison.
Liberty County Sheriff's Deputies and Effingham County Sheriff's Deputies worked together Thursday night to make the arrest.
