Dangerous weapon seized in ADDU bust

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Dougherty Drug Agents express concern over a dangerous weapon they seized out of a car on an Albany street last night during a drug bust.

The GSG .22 calibre pistol complete with a 100 shot magazine was loaded with 91 bullets when drug agents seized it.

Drug agents say about 11 Thursday night they tried to stop this Ford F-350 pickup truck on Slappey Boulevard, when it tried to run for them.  The driver, 33-year-old Kevin Harris, threw out two small packages of cocaine and marijuana while he ran.

His truck was stopped at 9th and Taft.  Under the back seat agents found the dangerous gun.

"The officers carry 16 rounds and have to reload. This one can shoot for 100 rounds before he even has to consider reloading. So a little bit scary out there with something of this calibre just in a vehicle riding around town," said Major Bill Berry, A.D.D.U. Commander.

That gun will now be checked by experts to see if it a fully automatic or semi-automatic weapon.

The cocaine Harris had was worth $7,860 on the streets, the marijuana $210.

He was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, gun, and obstruction charges.

He is being held in the Dougherty County jail.
