EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -
A
kidnapping suspect who was taken into custody in Liberty County faces several
charges.
Brandon Peters was arrested at a home in Midway just
before 11 p.m. Thursday.
Investigators
determined that Peters dumped the stolen van he took from the kidnapping victim
on Race Path Road and then stole a dump truck that he drove to Liberty County,
according to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.
Peters
faces charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary and two counts of
theft by taking a motor vehicle. More charges could be coming. Peters has an
extensive criminal history and has served time in prison for armed robbery.
The
Effingham County Sheriff's Office is assisting Springfield Police in the
kidnapping investigation.
Effingham
County Sheriff's Office spokesman David Ehsanipoor said Peters went on a countywide
crime spree that had to be stopped before someone got killed. He said Peters violent
offender who will do anything to avoid going back to prison.
