On Friday, Chatham County commissioners dedicated the Pete Liakakis Government Building on Oglethorpe Ave. 200 county employees from five departments will work in the building. Chairman Liakakis will finish his second term in January, when the chairman-elect Al Scott takes his place.
"But I'll still be in the game because now I have just been elected to a four year term as chairman of the Chatham Area Transit Authority, the bus city. And I'm on a number of boards like the Southeast Georgia Police Academy. So, I'll be out there working again," said Liakakis.
WTOC's Sonny Dixon served as the emcee for the dedication. The $6.8 million building is the county's second largest office. It features solar hot water heating, Energy-Star rated appliances and more natural lighting.
