CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Feral cat colonies have been a major problem in Chatham County and now commissioners are doing something about it.
Commissioners say they are going to start enforcing the county's current animal control ordinance, which states animal control will pick up cats on a complaint-basis only.
At least 10 people have been exposed to rabies in recent weeks. The county says it can only enforce what's already on the books because individual towns and cities have their own animal control laws.
The county says if cats or any wild animal is on private property, it's up to the owners to call animal control if the animal isn't claimed.
