George Buchanan, who was in his 50s, has become the second pedestrian in two days to die after being hit by a vehicle.
Buchanan, of the 8000 block of Waters Ave., was pronounced dead at Memorial University Medical Center after the 6:13 p.m. accident.
Investigators from Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team say Buchanan was crossing Waters near the intersection of Shannon Ln., when he was struck by a car driven by Antwan Taliaferro, 31, of Brandon Ln.
According to police, three other pedestrians were struck by automobiles Thursday night.
John Robertson, 53, of the 10000 block of Abercorn St., was declared dead at Memorial University Medical Center after he was hit by a pickup truck and Abercorn and Wilshire Blvd. around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Okeemi Brown, 24, who is homeless, was listed in serious but stable condition after he was hit by a car at West Bay St. and Scarborough St. around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Alfreda Wright, 51, of the 2500 block of E Derenne Ave. was transported to an area hospital after she was hit by a vehicle as she was walking westbound on the side of W Gwinnett St. near US 17 overpass around 10:10 p.m. Thursday.
MAIT is continuing to investigate all four accidents.
