SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Driver's licensing customer service centers in
Georgia closed Saturday and will reopen on Wednesday.
Georgia
Department of Driver Services is warning customers that they should plan for
long wait times the first business day after the office has been closed.
Also, the first business day following a closed day is
typically a very busy day, so please plan not to visit on those days unless you
have time to wait.
The Ga. Dept. of Driver Services offered these
reminders to Georgia drivers:
Tuesdays are the busiest day of the week to visit
a DDS office.
Drivers can go online to replace a lost or
stolen license or ID by going to www.dds.ga.gov as long as drivers are not up
for a renewal within 150 days.
Bring a copy of
a police report with you to get your driver's license number changed if you are
a victim of theft or fraud, which is required by state law.
Go to the DDS
website to make sure you bring all the necessary documents required by the
Dept. of Homeland Security by creating personal document checklist at www.dds.ga.gov.
A license or ID
Card can be renewed 150 days before expiration. Don't wait until the last
minute to renew.
Make sure your
address is current with DDS in order to receive an important renewal reminder
in the mail.
Change your
address online at www.dds.ga.gov as long as you have changed your
address with the U.S. Postal Service within the past 30 days.
