City's Christmas tree recycling event set for Jan. 5

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Residents who bring a Christmas tree to recycle for the city of Savannah's Bring One for the Chipper will get free plant seeds.

The annual Bring One for the Chipper is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 5. Christmas trees will be turned into mulch, which will be used at city parks and neighborhood beautification projects.

Residents can drop off Christmas trees for recycling at these locations:

Home Depot, 11180 Abercorn St.
Home Depot, 190 Pooler Parkway
Home Depot, 1901 Victory Dr.
Dean Forest Landfill, 1325 Dean Forest Rd.
Bacon Park Landfill, Shorty Cooper Rd.
