The Ladies Auxiliary of the Salvation Army donated 91 teddy bears to SCMPD.
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are getting a late holiday gift.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Salvation Army donated 91 teddy bears to the department. The bears will be placed in patrol cars and given to children involved in tragic event.
The members of the auxiliary sew or go out and buy outfits and dress the bears. The bears get displayed at the Marches of Skidaway until they are donated. Members say each year they are thrilled to help out.
"I hear so many wonderful stories especially from the police department," said Jan Saylor, of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Saylor started the bear donation 26 years ago when she moved to Savannah from Ohio.
