GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -
Garden City firefighters battled a massive blaze at The Ultimate Detail Carwash in Garden City along Highway 21 on Thursday night.
Port Wentworth also assisted with the fire fight. Crews say when they got to the scene, the building was already fully engulfed.
"The flames were coming out the windows and doors of the business," Chief James Crosby said.
Crosby said the fire could be suspicious. A representative from the state fire marshal's office will be at the scene on Friday.
He said the owner of the car wash was just cited on Wednesday for violations involving chemicals and the way he was washing the trucks. The Garden City Fire Dept. working with the Ga. Evironmental Protection Division served the business a 30-day notice to clear up the situation or shut down.
"Tomorrow we will call the state fire marshal because the gentleman who owns the car wash was just served notice today because of EPA violations," Chief Crosby said.
Garden City police are also investigating the fire.
