BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -
Bluffton police investigated a wreck involving a Ford pickup
truck and a man on bicycle Friday afternoon.
Police responded at about 2:30 p.m. Friday to the collision
near the intersection of Bluffton Parkway and Buck Island Road.
A red 2004 Ford pickup truck driven by Hugo Toledo, was stopped
for a traffic signal in the northbound lane on Buck Island Road. Davon Polite
was riding a bike westbound in the eastbound lane on Bluffton Parkway.
The traffic light turned green and Toledo drove through the
intersection and the bicyclist went in front of the truck, which resulted in
the truck hitting the bike, according to Bluffton police.
Polite was taken to Hilton Head Hospital with minor
injuries. He was cited for failure to ride on the right side of the roadway. Toledo
was cited for operating a vehicle without a license.
