The New Year
will be bringing some new laws for folks living in Georgia and South Carolina.
Beginning January
first - Georgia will expand its mandatory reporting of child abuse, and
eliminate its statute of limitations on sex crimes.
The Corrections
Reform Bill changes the way punishments will be handled for non-violent, first
time, and low-level drug offenders.
Still on the
table is house resolution 5. If approved it would force members of the State Senate
and House of Representatives out of office after serving 4 consecutive terms. However,
politicians could run for office after sitting out for two years.
And in South Carolina, a new
voter ID law will go into effect in the New Year requiring voters to show photo
identification.
