BRUNSWICK, GA (WTOC) -

As of Jan. 1, the Glynn County Animal Control Center is now handling responsibilities with animal control complaints within the city of Brunswick.

To file an animal complaint, call the Glynn County Animal Control Center at 912.554.7500. Animal complaints received by Brunswick officers will be directed to this phone number.

To report an injured animal after normal business hours, call the police and the supervisor will make a decision about contacting the on-call animal control officer.

The GCAC Center will provide care for animals that are abandoned as a result of police action, like an arrest situation.

If there is a cruelty to animals' case, the responding officer will investigate and may contact a Glynn County Animal Control Center officer to secure the animal. The prosecution of the case will be a joint effort between the initial officer and the GCAC officer.

Glynn County Animal Control Center officers will use city ordinances when acting in the city, and the case will be taken to the City of Brunswick Municipal Court, according to the city.

The Glynn County Animal Control Center will take action on dangerous dogs under the state laws.
