BRUNSWICK, GA (WTOC) -
As of Jan. 1, the Glynn County Animal Control Center is now
handling responsibilities with animal control complaints within the city of
Brunswick.
To
file an animal complaint, call the Glynn
County Animal Control Center at 912.554.7500.
Animal complaints received by Brunswick officers will be directed to this phone
number.
To
report an injured animal after normal business hours, call the police and the
supervisor will make a decision about contacting the on-call animal control
officer.
The
GCAC Center will provide care for animals that are abandoned as a result of
police action, like an arrest situation.
If
there is a cruelty to animals' case, the responding officer will investigate
and may contact a Glynn County Animal
Control Center officer to secure the animal. The prosecution of the case
will be a joint effort between the initial officer and the GCAC officer.
Glynn County Animal Control Center officers will use city ordinances when acting in the city,
and the case will be taken to the City of Brunswick Municipal Court, according
to the city.
The Glynn County Animal Control Center will take action on dangerous dogs
under the state laws.
