BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -
A Bluffton man accused of conning Latinos
in the Lowcountry is suing the Hardeeville Police Department - saying the
accusation is false.
The Island Packet reports that Hardeeville
police arrested Henry Roldan last year on charges that he targeted undocumented
immigrants by posing as a bail bondsman but pocketed the cash they paid him to
get their relatives out of jail.
In the lawsuit, Roldan says he was an interpreter
and facilitator to connect Latinos with services including transportation and
lawyers.
The lawsuit seeks damages for defamation, wrongful failure to
train and supervise police officers, false imprisonment, abuse of process and
malicious prosecution. Read full story in the Island Packet.
