TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

The crowd was massive for the 13th annual Polar Plunge on Tybee Island Tuesday. The water temperature was about 51 degrees. While some people stayed in for just a few seconds, Tom Atwood, of Atlanta, lasted one hour and 15 minutes.

"So you are the last man standing?" WTOC asked.

"The very last," said Atwood.

"So, what do you feel like now?" WTOC asked.

"Cold, really cold," said Atwood.

"How did you stay out there so long?" WTOC asked.

"Determination," said Atwood.

About 1,000 people took the plunge. City officials say there were a lot more spectators this year. Proceeds from the Polar Plunge go to the Tybee Post Theater.
