BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Council began its first 2013 meeting on Wednesday with a new chairman and vice chairman.

Paul Sommerville was elected unanimously as the County Council's chairman and Stewart Rodman was elected as the council's vice chairman.

Councilwoman Cynthia Bensch, who was elected in November to fill the District 7 seat, was sworn into office by Judge Marvin H. Dukes III just before the election.

Councilman Gerald Dawson, Brian Flewelling and William McBride, who were re-elected in November, were sworn into office.
