Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Southside Precinct officers responded to a burglary at Critz Buick GMC in the 7000 block of Abercorn Street. Police said a vehicle was used to remove a gate and fence and exit the lot.

Police said that just after midnight, officers from several precincts and a police canine officer searched a wooded area behind the dealership.

At the time of the apprehension, an officer suffered a medical condition and was taken to Memorial University Medical Center, according to police. He was in stable condition as of Thursday morning.

Southside Precinct detectives continue to investigate the burglary and theft.
