U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., was named on Thursday to the U.S.
Senate Committee on Finance.
The Finance Committee has jurisdiction of tax policy, oversees
trade policy, Social Security and Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health
Insurance Program and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, according to
"My No. 1 priority in the Senate is to
rein in federal spending and restore fiscal soundness to our country so that
our children's and grandchildren's futures are bright and prosperous. As a
member of the Senate Finance Committee, I am committed to finding meaningful
solutions and working with anyone who will sit down at the table to turn our
country's course to reduce our debt and deficits," Isakson said in a statement.
