APPLING CO., GA (WTOC) -
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Appling County Sheriff's Office are investigating a home invasion Friday morning that left a woman dead.
Appling County Sheriff Benny Deloach said they got a call at 6:36 a.m. from the Bridge-Com Security company that a panic alarm went off from a home on Corey Street in Baxley.
Deputies were dispatched and were told by the homeowner Jonathan Courson, 26, that two black males entered his home at about 4 a.m., according to the sheriff's office. They tied up Courson and his wife Mandy, 28, and ransacked their home.
Mandy was killed at some point, but the cause of death has not yet been determined.
At this point, the crime is being investigated as a home invasion and murder, according to the sheriff's office.
