NORTH MYRTLE BEACH - A South Carolina woman who packed a gun in her purse is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A North Myrtle Beach city spokesman says the woman shot herself while driving Friday because she was fumbling through her purse for something and accidentally pulled the trigger.
Spokesman Patrick Dowling says the accidental shooting happened near the city's public safety building and quickly pulled her car into a police department parking space to seek help.
An Horry County ambulance took the woman to a hospital.
