SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The
Savannah State University Department of Political Science and Public Affairs to
host "Savannah Policy and Planning Debates," a public service program
featuring local policy and development professionals as guest lectures.
Classes will be held weekly
through April starting on Tuesday, January 15th at the Coastal Georgia Center.
The classes are free and open to the community.
Professionals will teach the
class about critical urban problems and associated policy debates. The topics
that will be covered range from fair housing and poverty alleviation to
transportation planning and minority and women's business development.
Confirmed guest speakers
include former Savannah Mayor Otis Johnson, Daniel Dodd of Step-up Savannah,
Janice Sheffield of the Authority for the Homeless, among others.
The "Savannah Policy and
Planning Debates" is intended to give the community an opportunity to
explore and discuss urban problems and solutions across a variety of political
and policy perspectives.
