Shortly after 4 a.m. Monday morning, a Metro police cruiser was traveling at the intersection of 37th and Reynolds streets in Savannah when it a tree. The officer was trapped and had to be freed from the wreckage. He was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

"An officer was traveling west on 37th Street when a car wanting to pull out from Reynolds Street onto 37th, nosed out a little bit to see if traffic was coming into his path. He swerved to miss it and ended up colliding with a tree. He was entrapped because the dashboard had fallen down on his leg and had him pinned, but they have gotten him out now." said Julian Miller, Savannah Chatham Metro Police Dept.
