SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
A
man arrested on murder charges was indicted Wednesday by a Chatham County grand
jury.
Shan
Demetrius Cheley, 36, was indicted on malice murder charges in connection with
the death of 18-year-old Amber DeLoach. He is also charged with aggravated
assault, possession of a controlled substance and arson.
DeLoach
was found on Sept. 30 in a burning car in Yamacraw Village. She was strangled and
raped, according to the indictment.
Cheley has been detained since Oct. 4 in the Chatham County Detention Center
on charges of contempt of court and cocaine possession.
Investigators said Cheley and DeLoach had met each other the night before
her body was found.
