PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) -

Some fourth- and fifth-graders at Port Wentworth Elementary School  showed off their spelling skills on Friday.

Two students from each class participated. The winners from this spelling bee will go on to represent their school in the countywide spelling bee on february fourth. Organizers say the students are thrilled to participate.

"Our students are very well motivated and here at Port Wentworth we focus on the character traits and all of our students have great character skills and they will become productive citizens of the future," said Shirley Headen, the spelling bee coordinator.

Wanya Waldburg won first place and Dylan Boone placed second. Both of them are fourth-graders. WTOC's Brandi Cummings judged the competition.
