The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has released more details in Friday's hostage situation in Rincon.

Chad Moretz, 34, was shot and killed after taking a hostage at a residence on 205 Whitehall Ave., according to the sheiff's office.

Kimberly Moretz, 42, and her brother Kevin Lambert, 38 were arrested on charges of concealing a death.

The two siblings are believed to have concealed the death of Charles Ray III, of Wilmington Island, who was reported missing by concerned family members. Parts of Ray's body were uncovered in a storage unit in Jasper County, with more parts being located inside the residence on Whitehall Avenue.

During negotiations with police, Chad Moretz was said to be unstable and at points threatened to kill police offers as they approached the house.

Kimberly Moretz also sustained cracked ribs during the standoff.
