The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has released more information regarding Friday's hostage situation in Rincon.

Officials say that Chad Moretz, 34, was shot and killed after taking a hostage at a residence on 205 Whitehall Avenue.

Police have also arrested Kimberly Moretz, 42, and her brother Kevin Lambert, 38 on charges of concealing a death.

According to David Ehsanipoor, Public Information Officer for the ECSO, the siblings are believed to have concealed the death of Charles Ray III.

Parts of Ray's body were uncovered in a storage unit in Jasper County, with more parts being located inside the residence on Whitehall Avenue.

ECSO officials will be maintaining the crime scene throughout the weekend, and SLED will continue to monitor the second scene in Jasper County.

During negotiations with police, Chad Moretz was said to be unstable and at points threatened to kill police offers as they approached the house.

Kimberly Moretz also sustained cracked ribs during the stand-off.

WTOC is continuing to gain information about this story, and will update it as more details are released.
