$250,000 lottery ticket sold in Riceboro

A winning Georgia Lottery ticket worth $250,000 was sold at the South Newport Chevron, located at 36 Montague St. in Riceboro. 

The winner, Wilbur Hammond, of Bridgeport, W. Va., claimed the top prize from the instant game Giant Jingle Bucks at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Savannah.

The Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education since its first year. All of the profits from the Georgia Lottery go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received the HOPE Scholarship, and more than 1.2 million 4 year olds have attended the Pre-K Program.
