Armadillos invade the lowcountry

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Armadillos are taking over the lowcountry. Beaufort Co. pest control businesses say they have seen an increase in complaints of digging in flower beds and on golf courses.

Right now, there is no estimate of how many armadillos live in Beaufort or the state because a population survey has never been taken.

According to state law, anyone with a hunting license can shoot the armadillos year round and anyone without a hunting license can only shoot the animal if it is within 100 yards of their residence.
