Hilton Head Hospital broke ground Tuesday on a $16 million outpatient medical center in Bluffton.
The 60,000 square foot facility will include women's health services, diagnostic imaging and occupational and speech therapy services.
The new outpatient facility will be located on a 12 acre site near the intersection of US 278 and Buck Island Rd.
A spokeswoman with the Hilton Head Hospital says the center will create about 30 new jobs in the area.
"We are here to celebrate a milestone in serving Bluffton and the needs of the Bluffton community. We are basically consolidating a number of services here as well as adding some services and expanding others, including a diagnostic imaging center, which will be at the core of it all," said Mark O'Neil, Hilton Head Regional Healthcare CEO.
Construction is expected to take about 15 months to complete.
