A Savannah taxi cab driver is dead and his passenger is seriously injured after they were struck by a pickup truck around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Scott Barrett, 46, of W 38th St., died in surgery after he was transported to Memorial University Medical Center. His passenger, Kirk Deweese, of Harmon St., was treated for serious injuries.
Barrett and Dewesse were standing behind the Yellow cab that Barrett had been driving, loading an air compressor into the trunk, when they were struck by a pickup truck that was being driven west in the 2100 block of Shell Rd., off Skidaway Rd. The victims were pinned between the two vehicles.
The driver of the pickup, Donald Newman III, 27, of Brevard Cir., was not injured.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the incident.
