Unnamed burglary suspect allegedly caught by store owner
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
If the burglar who targeted a southwest Atlanta baby gear store early Wednesday morning thought he could get in and out too quickly to be caught, he was sorely mistaken.
The owner was literally seconds away.
The break-in happened just after midnight. Police said the owner of Pamper World on Pryor Road got a call from the company that monitors his security system. The alarm was sounding.
The owner, who didn't want to be identified, told CBS Atlanta News that at the time, he was right around the corner at a sports bar that he also owns. He said he and two family members ran over to the baby store and caught Albert Snelling coming out of the back door with baby food and other items he had stolen.
CBS Atlanta News asked the owner how they were able to convince Snelling to stay until police arrived. Did they tackle him? Did they point a gun at him?
"Let's just say we did a good job convincing him not to move, and he didn't want any trouble," said the owner.
He told officers that the same man had tried to break into the store a few weeks ago.
Albert Snelling was taken into custody, and charges are pending in the case.
