Man indicted on murder charges

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Chatham County grand jury indicted a man in connection with the death of a couple late last year in Savannah.

Dwayne Green was indicted murder and aggravated assault charges.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police investigators said Greene killed 48-year-old Laura Dowdy and 33-year-old Freddie Jackson.

Both victims were shot in the same area off of West 38th Street near Bulloch Street - just days apart.

Detectives say Jackson's death was connected to a drug deal. They said Greene shot and killed Laura Dowdy a few days later because she knew he was the killer.
