Savannah is just not moving fast enough on a new arena, at least in Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson's mind.
However, not everyone agrees. A new cultural arts center, the much talked about cruise ship terminal proposal and the Coffee Bluff Marina round out the list of projects the city wants to see more progress on in 2013, but the studies and field trips to other cities in connection to the new arena are raising some questions.
Another study is about to begin on targeting which of four possible sights is the best location for a new arena.
"No one can answer those questions. How much has been spent on arena studies? We know how much has been spent on the cruise ship terminal. I want to know who's on the committee? Where they've gone? How much has been spent? Those are genuine concerns," Alderman Tony Thomas told WTOC during a city council retreat Tuesday afternoon.
Mayor Jackson has promised to have the answers to those questions before the end of March, when the new arena site study is expected to begin.
