A memorial tree is planted on Warriors Walk to remember Sgt. Jason Swindle.
HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -
A Third Infantry Division soldier killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan will be forever remembered in the hearts of those he knew and at the hallowed ground on Fort Stewart.
A memorial tree was planted on Warriors Walk for Sgt. Jason Swindle, 24, who was killed in Afghanistan during a firefight.
Swindle was assigned to 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd ID.

just wanted to talk to somebody, he was always there for you and made sure you
were on the right track," said Sgt. Christopher Shaul, 1st Battalion, 64th
Armor Regiment, 2nd Armor Brigade Combat Team.
"I lose sleep
over it every night. I was there when they brought Sgt. Swindle in. Today's
events are very important to me because it brings closure. Now I know his
family has been taken care of. He has been memorialized and now my company can
close the doors and push forward," said 1st Sgt. Scott Collum, 1st Battalion,
64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Armor Brigade Combat Team.
The total number of trees on Warriors Walk now stands at 444.
