Capt. Nissa Brodman
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The Zonta Club handed out the Amelia Earhart Achievement Award Thursday night at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum. The award is handed out each year in honor of a woman in aviation.
This year, the award was presented to Capt. Nissa Brodman, a Medevac helicopter pilot stationed at Hunter Army Airfield. Capt. Brodman provided oversight for Hurricane Irene disaster relief, has more than 150 combat hours and recently saved a life in combat.
"I never thought I would receive such an award. You are not thinking of that when you are doing your job. I was just enjoying the last eight years of my profession. I am very honored. I mean Amelia Earhart, that is great as a pilot to receive such an award," said Capt. Brodman.
