APPLING CO., GA (WTOC) -

The officers accused of shooting a Marine have been cleared. On Friday, a grand jury cleared the officers who shot and killed James Dixon at his Appling County home on Holland Rd. Ext. in February of 2012.

It all started when neighbors complained Dixon was shooting toward a house. When deputies arrived, Dixon would not give up so they called in SWAT, launching a standoff.

When Dixon finally came out of the home, he refused to put down the gun, forcing officers to shoot.

Dixon's family says the former Marine suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
