SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

On Friday, the 25 graduates of patrol school received their Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department badges in a pinning ceremony. The recruits had to complete 19 weeks of training.

"I like to help people and help out communities. I felt that it was my obligation to put my foot out there and show the community that I'm here for them, I'm here to service them, and I'm here to make sure they are safe at night when the bad guys are out there causing all the havoc and stuff like that," said Isaiah Davis, graduate.

During the ceremony, John Best, who recently became the commander of the Island Precinct on Jan. 7, was promoted from lieutenant to captain. Chatham Co. District Attorney Meg Heap served as the keynote speaker.
