Savannah celebrity turns 100 Saturday

Posted: Updated:

A Savannah celebrity turns 100 years old this weekend. On Saturday, friends and family will sing happy birthday to Mrs. Mae Schwartz. She lived in California for 36 years and had the privilege of meeting several celebrities along the way. She was an extra in the movie Hello Dolly and has had lunch with her favorite celebrity, Barbara Streisand. But it wasn't exactly a glamorous beginning for Schwartz, who was born and raised in Minnesota.

"I used to drive a tractor when we lived on the farm. I did cultivating, drove horses, fed the cattle and whatever. Lots of things on the farm," said Schwartz.

Schwartz says her favorite moments over of the past 100 years have been the births of her two sons.
