Strong storms possible this evening

Updated:

Our Sunday started with a round of showers and storms and could end the same way.  Most of the area is under a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather which means, this evening's storms could bring damaging wind gusts and large hail, an isolated tornado can not be ruled out either.

The unsettled weather should taper off by midnight but, most of the area should remain cloudy through daybreak.  Temperatures will be mild and muggy tonight as lows fall into the low and mid 70s.

The cold front we've been tracking could move through a little faster on Monday bringing the best shower and storm chances to areas south and east of the Triangle.  Some of these storms could again be on the stronger side with gusty winds & large hail our primary concern.  We're also looking at one last hot and humid day as we start the work week with highs soaring into the low 90s.

Behind this cold front, expect more pleasant weather with just a stray lingering shower Tuesday and highs in the mid 80s.  The mid 80s will continue with dry weather Wednesday & Thursday before the chance for a few showers or storms returns again Friday.

The upcoming weekend looks dry Saturday but, we could have some unsettled conditions Sunday but, both days look unseasonably cool with highs staying in the mid 80s.
