SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Some honors were handed out at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport at Wednesday's Airport Commission meeting.

Hoyle Townsend was recognized by Airport Executive Director Patrick Graham and co-workers for 25 years of service.

Over the years, Townsend worked as a electronic technician.

"Twenty-five years; it has good benefits. Everything is different. You don't work in the same field every day," Townsend said. "From firearms to security systems, PA systems and telephone systems, so you aren't in an office all day. I like that."

The commission also discussed replacing lighting fixtures in the parking decks, and received input on to improve airline service and expand the local market. They also discussed attracting airlines by following the Charleston Airport's model. The South Carolina airport has seen success with low-cost carriers.
