Some lowcountry bus drivers could be going on strike. Contract negotiations between Durham and employees have been going on for a couple of weeks. The company operates buses and routes in Beaufort County, Charleston and Dorchester District 2. Lowcountry union drivers have not released details about what they want in the contract or what the company wants but both sides seem to be at a stand still.
"Durham school services has assured us that in the event of a strike there is a contingency plan in place that would make certain that all of the students in Beaufort County got to and from school every day," said Jim Foster, Beaufort County School District.
Beaufort has not yet voted on the strike. Dorchester and Charleston already said they will strike if a deal is not reached.
