Chamber bakes raisin bread for Effingham Day at the capital

EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce spent Thursday baking raisin bread at Ebenezer Middle School to take up to all of the state legislators at the annual Effingham Day at the capital.

"It is an annual tradition of ours. This is an old Salzburger recipe for the raisin bread and it has become so popular over the years now that if we miss a legislator's office, we hear about it real fast," said Rick Lott, Effingham Chamber of Commerce.

The raisin bread was a staple of the Salzburger settlers starting in 1734 along the Savannah River in Effingham County.
